Crazy Blind Guy Sees His Way to Fitness

It's rare that I'm moved and inspired at the same time by something I see on the internet.

But today I have an exception for you.

Let me briefly prepare you for what you're about to see and hear.

I say "see" and "hear" with all due respect because the man who put this wild fatloss and fitness system together cannot do either.

He is totally blind and almost totally deaf.

So he made this presentation with the help of one of my friends in the fitness world (my good buddy Jon Benson) who doesn't take a penny (nor will he ever) from helping this extraordinary new fitness role model.

I wanted to do my part, too... but believe me, I'm not just helping a blind guy out here. I'm sharing a true gem with you if you want to take your body and your motivation to the next level.

Imagine this:

Being totally blind and overweight. Yet wanting to be fit.

Now, really picture it:  You cannot see, so going to a gym is... well... almost impossible (or so you may think... this guy figured it out... ) You trip over weights other people leave on the floor. You cannot tell if someone is using that machine (you know, the one you had to count steps to from the gym door in order to find?) until you practically sit on them.

Get the picture?

And what about eating right?  How do you measure everything? How do you know if you're buying the right brand of, say, chicken breast? Is this chicken with or without skin?

You see how tricky this is?

And yet, Mike figured out how to do it.

More than that -- he dumped over 40 lbs of blubber and put on muscle shape... and now he looks like a different person.

You may be thinking... "Okay, so how can a blind guy's program help me?"

I thought the same thing until I checked it out.

You see, A LOT of the fitness challenges we ALL face (sighted or not) go unseen (pardon my expression!)  We just can't seem to figure out "why" we cannot get or stay fit... and the real reason for this is that we cannot see the REAL problem.

My new friend, Mike Weingarden, is just your typical guy... except he's blind (totally) and almost deaf. But he was forced to dig a LOT deeper than most of us due to his physical challenges in order to figure out how to shed bodyfat, shape-up his body with lean muscle, and stay super-motivated.

Doing this allowed him to discover the REAL challenges... and the solutions... to changing anyone's body.

7 Metabolism-Boosting Nutrients

If you've read my Fat Burning Kitchen as well as Truth About Abs ebooks, then you know I point out dozens of "minor" things that can all have small, but cumulative effects on your metabolism and fat burning efforts.

Some of these that I've written about are:
  • Use of cruciferous veggies to help fight the xenoestrogens your body is exposed to (that can make stomach fat particularly stubborn)
  • Use of green/black/white/oolong teas to have very slight increases in fat burning effect

2 Teas possibly more powerful than green tea?

Unless you've been on another planet the last few years, you've had it beaten into your head on the health benefits and antioxidant properties of green tea.

But there are 2 other teas I'd like to give honorable mention that could easily be just as healthy, and possibly have even more potent health benefits...

the only thing is that they simply have less studies on them, so they don't get as much publicity as green tea.

*From South America:

The first one I will mention is Yerba Mate, a South American herb.  I've developed quite a taste for yerba mate over the last couple of years, and it is a rich source of antioxidants, and particularly rich in polyphenols.

Although green tea gets a lot of press about it's antioxidants, don't overlook the benefits and antioxidant power of yerba mate tea. Plus, I think the taste is great!  I've been hooked lately on this cocoa-yerba-mate tea I found recently at Whole Foods. Delicous!

The caffeine content of yerba mate can best be described as somewhere between green tea and coffee.

*From Africa:

The next lesser known tea I wanted to mention that often takes a backseat to the spotlight of green tea is Rooibos tea (aka - red tea).

However, some argue that the antioxidant power and health benefits of Rooibos tea can easily rival green tea... it's just been studied less than green tea so it doesn't get the same attention.

Rooibos tea has no caffeine but is also an amazing source of different types of antioxidants compared to green tea. It's rich in minerals, flavanoids, and plenty of other unique antioxidants.  It also has a great taste that you might like.

Since rooibos tea has no caffeine, it's great to have near bedtime as an alternative to chamomile tea.

So, although most health professionals and media outlets like to talk about green tea and it's benefits, don't overlook the powerful health benefits of teas from the other continents -- in this case, Rooibos and Yerba Mate teas!

The healthiest new fast food option

When you're traveling, sometimes it's not the easiest task to find healthy food options, especially if your only options are fast food joints.

I try to stay far far away from places like mickey d's or BK... I think I've only had them once or twice in the past 2-3 years.

But I've found a much healthier fast food option recently on many of my travels. I've been seeing a lot of these fresh mexican food places popping up all over the place. There are several different chains such as Chipotle, Baja Fresh, Rubios, etc.

But here's how I modify their options to get the healthiest meal possible...

Usually the menus are full of burrito and taco options, but I really don't want the wheat or corn tortillas since those are just useless carbs and calories without much nutrition value. Plus, most wheat wraps are made with hydrogenated oils (trannies), so that's another reason to avoid them.

So what I do is ask the worker to make me a special plate where I'll just pile up a few of the meat options, tons of veggies, beans, salsa, and LOTS of guacamole. I always decline the rice too since that's also a pretty useless carb with no real nutrition value and doesn't add much on taste either.

This pretty much confuses the worker every time since this "mixed plate" option isn't really on their menu, and they don't know what to charge me, but I just ask them to charge me for whatever they think is fair.

Considering this is fast-food, this is about the healthiest option that packs the most nutritional punch without overloading on useless carbs. Plus, it's pretty damn tasty too! And it also satisfies the appetite for a long time since it has plenty of healthy fats from the guac and fiber from the beans and veggies.

Consider giving this little trick a try next time you're out and about and want to find a healthier fast food option.
